Project

Quadrant Financial, a subsidiary of First Chatham Bank (Savannah, GA), is a direct lender of government sponsored loans for small businesses across the United States. With offices in over 9 states, Quadrant Financial has originated millions of dollars in loans to assist entrepreneurs in growing their business.

Opportunity

Applying for a small business loan is a surprisingly time-consuming and difficult process that requires the skills of many different departments. In Quadrant’s case, the process begins with Business Development Officers that (BDO’s) help walk potential lendees through the vast collection of forms and paperwork. Once all information is compiled, an experienced Underwriter assesses the financial status of the lendee and the terms of the loan to ensure that it is a profitable for both parties. Finally, the Closing Department is then responsible for submitting the loan application to the actual lending institution. Because of the sheer volume of documentation required, Quadrant needed to find a more efficient means of gathering and storing the massive amount of information that is a part of each loan application.

Solution

After learning about all of the unique intricacies, hurdles, and bottlenecks, DBS began tailoring a system that would allow Quadrant employees to expedite the entire loan application process through a user-friendly web application. Using this business application, Quadrant personnel could track a loan throughout the process, simulate a variety of scenarios, and assess the effects of those scenarios on feasibility. Employees throughout all 9 states had access to the business application, which created a centralized source for all Quadrant loan application data.
